OAKLEY LADIES QUALIFY FOR COUNTY LAST EIGHTS

Well done Mary Varndell, Sue Dixon, Angie Rowe and Janie Vickers. This evening at Hook, in the Northern Area Finals of the County Fours they took on a rink from Alton Social, hoping for the second successive season, to qualify for the County quarter finals to be played at Banister Park. The early ends were closely contested with Oakley leading 5-2 after 6 ends and although by 12 ends the lead had increased to 11-6 the result was still too close to call. However a 7 for Oakley on the 15th end put the game out of reach for Social so it will be Oakley that plays at Southampton on the 9th July. They will be joined by County champions Margaret Holden's Alton Social four, which had a comfortable win over Old Basing.
