Oakley Bowling Club, today, was unable to complete all its Finals, on what was the designated Finals Day, because several who had qualified for the Finals had also qualified for the National Championships, also being held today at Royal Leamington Spa. It was, however, possible to stage three finals and thanks go to Ric Newson who organised the day in the absence of our Competition Secretary, who, like other members, had travelled to Leamington to support our players.

Less support at the Finals did not, however, detract from the bowling and Ric Newson, who, having been unable to play much bowls this year lifted the Open Singles title with a 21-12 victory over Ted Trantum. Ted had suffered an earlier defeat in the Men's Final losing 21-8 to Martin Vickers, who will now be eligible to represent the Club in the National Champion of Champions competition. The third Final saw Steve Devonish retain the Two Wood Crown with a 15-9 victory over Sean Lassman.

The Club's congratulations go to all who successfully reached Finals.
