DISAPPOINTMENT FOR JUNIOR PAIRS

Hopes were high, this afternoon that Alice Lovett and Grace Read would play well enough to reach the semi final of the National Junior Pairs and those hopes looked like being realised as they shot out of the blocks to lead 13-2 after 8 ends. The game was, however turned on its head as their opponents from Hertfordshire then scored a 6 followed by a 2 to reduce the gap to just 3 shots. The Hampshire duo came again to lead 17-11 at 12 ends but from thereon their opponents were in control scoring two scores of 3 as Alice and Grace went down to a 21-19 defeat. Such a narrow defeat will have been disappointing but it was their first season of playing together and age is on their side.
