Following the cancellation of the BDBA Centenary game, it was decided to run an event which would introduce members to the Bowls Bash format, at the same time as raising funds for charity. We also hoped that, following widespread advertising of Bowls Bash on local Facebook Groups some beginners might be temped to join us. That hope did not materialise, but those members who supported the event, well organised by Captain Anji, had a FUN afternoon as they tried to adapt to the unusual format, designed more for players wanting to take up the game than for experienced players. At the close, however, all seemed to agree that they had enjoyed the experience, so we might adapt the format for future use. The result of the match - a win for the REDS, who received the Captains Cup - is immaterial. What mattered is that everyone had a great time and, whilst doing so, raised slightly in excess of £200 for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance. Thank you to all who took part and generously donated monies and prizes.
