OAKLEY TRIPLES BOW OUT

It was not to be, for Mary Varndell, Sue Dixon and Janie Vickers as, this morning, at Banister Park, they took on Ringwood's Sharon Varndell's triple in the quarter final of the County Triples. Oakley made a promising start moving out to an early 6-0 lead. Ringwood, however, remained calm, reducing the lead to 8-4, and slowly but surely Ringwood got closer. At 14 ends the match was tied at 9-9 and a single on the 15th took Ringwood into the lead for the first time. A score of three took Oakley back into the lead at 12-10, but their supporters hopes that they could hang on were dashed. Ringwood scored a two to take the match into a sudden death last end shoot out and they managed that end well to achieve victory by 15 shots to 12.
