OAKLEY CRASH OUT OF HANTS AND BERKS CUP

Oakley's weekend began badly as they lost at home to Howard Park in the Hants and Berks Cup. The evening began badly. Howard Park shot out of the blocks and, by the half way stage, Park led by 14 shots with the Oakley rinks having conceded 3 scores of 4 and 1 of 5. There was a mountain to climb but gradually Oakley reduced the deficit so that after 17 ends, on the 3 rinks, the overall scores were tied. It was now anyone's game but Howard Park hung on to record a 50 shots to 49 victory. Oakley scores: Jamie Fewtrell, John Ryan, Malcolm Grime and Sean Lassman lost 9-15; Gary Newson, Jim Dixon, Gerald Norris and Graham Tompkins won 23-13; Steve Devonish, Hugh Aherne, Ric Newson and Martin Vickers lost 17-22.
