The annual President vs Vice President match is often the final outdoor game of the season but yesterday was different. This year the season will not end until next Saturday when we stage both the Ladies Singles final, delayed because of clashes with the Nationals, and our Drawn Fours competition. The afternoon started with a cold wind, but this did not deter members as they engaged in friendly but keen competition to see whether, as seems customary, the Vice President's team could come out on top. At 9 ends four of the five rinks were very close but the President's team had a 12 shot advantage but when, by 12 ends, the lead had been cut back to 6 shots, the result could have gone either way.

Following the match everyone moved over to the Malshanger Clubhouse where the President and Vice President had arranged and supplied drinks and food for everyone. For the first time in the Club's history, the Loyal Toast was to the King, after which the President announced that his highest winning rink was Lesley Allard, Marilyn Stanhope, Jamie Fewtrell and Martin Vickers and that Norman Frost, Peter Ball/Linda Smith, Sue Dixon and Shirley Ball had taken the awards for the Vice President. The final overall score was never revealed but informed sources indicate that Martin may be looking for a better result in 2023. As, however, Martin emphasised the game was the winner. Thanks go to Kay for organising the catering, to Linda and Coral for their assistance on the day and to Martin for running the bar.
