OAKLEY LADIES OUTSHINE THE MEN
After our ladies win.earlier in the week at Basingstoke Town, our men travelled there, on Thursday evening, hoping to also secure a County Club Championship victory. Oakley stormed out of the blocks winning the first end on all four rinks. A rally by Town saw them take a 2 shot lead at 6 ends which by 12 ends had increased to 8 shots. It was still anyone's game but Town dominated the final stages ending up very comfortable winners. We wish them good luck in the Area Final. Can they go on and win a title that has eluded them since 1978?
Meanwhile at Hook, Sue Dixon and Janie Vickers were playing the quarter final of the County's Golden Girls competition, a title they won in 2023. They made a disasterous start dropping 6 shots in the first two ends but rallied well, leading 10-7 after 6 ends. Oakley then took control and opponents Linda Habberfield and Tracey Bird conceded the match with Oakley leading 27-10. Good luck to our players when they play the semi final at Banister Park.
