This evening Oakley Ladies took a first step in defending the NHWBA Gazette Cup which they won in 2023. Playing at home against Hook in the quarter final of this year's event, Oakley stormed out of the blocks and after only 6 ends led by 33-4. It was always going to be difficult for Hook to recover from this position and although Hook fought hard and did much better over the later stages, Oakley ran out comfortable winners by 68-15. Oakley scores: Mary Varndell, Sue Dixon and Janie Vickers won 24-7, Sandra Lee, Shirley Ball and Angie Rowe won 23-7, Christine Williams, Val Ryan and Laura Butler won 21-13. In the next round Oakley will play the winners of Cove and Pyestock.
