Friday saw 21 members returning from an enjoyable 5 days at the Dorset Resort where they were part of a Bowls Hampshire touring group of 51. For the last three years, Oakley members have won the competition and, although we did not make it four on the trot, Val and John Ryan, playing with Carl and David from Cove finished runners up, thus ensuring Oakley representation in the last five finals. As usual, the Dorset Resort looked after us so well and at the final presentation evening it was good to see several other members picking up prizes whilst John Ryan earned the distinction of bringing home a Wrong Bias certificate. No sooner were we home, than members were attending the Social Evening at Malshanger where Jonathan Rouse attempted to explain to a good attendance the intricacies of Bridge. A few members also attended the Basingstoke and District Presentation Curry Evening at Kingsclere where both John Ryan and Bob Goodyer picked up awards. It was a busy few days.
