Member's thoughts yesterday morning were with our triple of Janie Vickers, Sue Dixon and Alice Lovett as, at Banister Park, they tried to qualify to represent Hampshire at the National championships. In their quarter final against Pembroke Gardens they began well leading 5-4 after 5 ends but by 10 ends they were trailling 6-11. A rally took them to 14-14 at 15 ends but Pembroke won the remaining ends, leaving our team dreaming of what might have been.
The afternoon saw the Club hosting the Royal Household Bowling Club in our annual fixture. There were some concerns we might have rain, but our luck held and six rinks thoroughly enjoyed themselves with plenty of banter and laughter. There was some good bowling with Oakley coming out on top, in a reversal of last year's result. After the match we enjoyed an excellent meal, supplied by Graham and before they left our visitors had the opportunity, courtesy of Jamie Colman, to wander around and enjoy the gardens of Malshanger House
